The process involves applying a dry powder, usually made of finely ground pigment and resin particles, to the wheel’s surface and then baking it in a specialist oven to create a smooth, hard-wearing finish.

Here is the powder coating process at a glance:

• Preparation – Thoroughly cleaning to remove all dirt and grease. The powder coating will not adhere properly to wheels that haven’t been cleaned properly
• Stripping (if necessary) – Any existing paint or coating will need to be removed
• Masking – Any areas that don’t need coating must be masked off
• Application – The powder coating is electrostatically applied
• Curing – The wheel(s) are put into a specialist oven. The powder melts and then cures at a specific temperature
• Cooling – The wheels are allowed to cool properly and are then ready to go back on the vehicle.
